Transparent (Glycerine) Soap Plant
Transparent soap making is a hot process in which solvents like sugar, glycerin and alcohol dissolve the soap crystals to allow the lights to pass thus making it transparent.
Let us discuss briefly about the process-
A) Equipments required for this process are-
Reactor or Mixing tank with stirrer and heating provision, Storage tank with stirrer and heating provision, Transfer Pump, Soap Cooler, Cutting Machine, Stamping Machine, Packing Machine.
B) Raw materials required for making transparent soap are-
Castor oil (vegetable oil), Coconut oil, Tallow (Fat), Avocado oil (edible oil), Glycerin, Lye (concentrated NaOH), Distilled water, Stearic acid (saturated fatty acid), Alcohol, Sugar, Colour, Perfume.
C) Manufacturing Process step by step-
1) Mix the oils and Glycerin properly and melt.
2) Mix the Lye (concentrated NaOH) with double the quantity of distilled water continuously stirring. Add this solution in hot condition with the oil solution in step 1 and stir properly.
3) Take Stearic acid (saturated fatty acid) and melt it. Stirring continuously add this into the oil and Lye solution. Due to reaction it will become thicker.
4) Add Alcohol to the mixture and stir quickly. It will start dissolving soap. Cover it and start heating allowing Alcohol to evaporate and rest remains in soap. The soap will continue to dissolve and heat it for 2-3 hrs to make the soap clear.
5) Remove the cover and check it for transparency. Foam will be formed on the surface which can be minimized by spraying Alcohol. To further increase the transparency heat little more time.
6) Make Sugar solution with water by heating. Mix this solution with soap solution and heat it for 1hr to increase transparency further. If required Alcohol or Sugar solution can be added.
7) At this stage colour and perfumes are added to achieve the desired soap.
8) Pour the liquid solution into mould cavities or else use a soap cooler to shape the desired soap. Allow this to cool enough for demoulding.
9) Curing the soap for 5-6 weeks will make it more transparent.
10) Next step is slicing or cutting in calculated length to maintain the weight. For this soap bars are fed to machine and automatic cutter slice it in required thickness.
11) After slicing the soap pieces are conveyed to stamping machine. Here the Logo or name of the soap is stamped and transferred to wrapping machine.
12) Initial wrapping is done in plastic or paper automatically and sent for Cartoning machine.
13) Batch No/Date/ weight etc. are stamped here alongwith filling the wrapped soap into a paper box and sealed. Further it is conveyed through belt to packing area and collected manually and filled into a big box for transportation.
